Shyni Varghese
Professor @Duke University, USA
Shyni Varghese is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Biomedial Engineering, and Materials Engineering and Materials Science at Duke University. Her research focuses at the interface of biologically inspired materials and stem cells. Examples of ongoing research activities in her laboratory involve developing biomaterials for regenerative medicine, smart materials such as self-healing gels, and technologies to improve stem-cell-based therapies, including activating endogenous stem cells, engineered functional tissue grafts, and organ-on-a-chip systems. She is an elected Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering and a consultant to biotech companies and law firms.
Nasim Annabi
Assistant Professor @University of California, USA
Nasim Annabi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She has expertise in the design and engineering of advanced biomaterials for applications in regenerative medicine. In addition, her research team devises innovative strategies for the development of advanced bioadhesives and surgical sealants with high clinical translation for surgical applications. She has been recognized with several awards including the 2021 Biomaterials Science Lectureship, 2021 Young Investigator Award from the Society for Biomaterials, the 2020 Nanoscale Science and Engineering Forum Young Investigator Award of American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the National Health and Medical Research Council Early Career Award.
